I'm Andrew Chemis, a software engineer passionate about building reliable, scalable systems. I believe in writing clean code, thinking in systems, and continuous learning.

My work spans cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and developer tooling. I enjoy the challenge of making complex things simple and helping teams ship better software.

Background

My degree is in business administration. I came to engineering sideways: years of hands-on cloud work, a tinkering habit that never wore off, and certifications picked up long after the skills they attest to.

These days I work on agentic and accelerated engineering — using AI tooling to change how software actually gets built. I adopt new technology early and I'm opinionated about where AI earns its place on an engineering team and where it doesn't.

I hold the AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certifications; see Achievements for the details.
